WSJ: 5 Tips for Recruiting on Facebook

Wall Street Journal, 10/24/2011.  In October 24th’s Journal Report on Leadership, the Wall Street Journal share 5 tips to maximize recruiting efforts with Facebook:

1. Use professional-networking apps built for Facebook: Companies such as BranchOut allows users to create professional looking resumes that recruiters can leverage

2. Ask Employees to contact their Facebook friends who they believe would be qualified candidates

3. Don’t Spam-No one wants to hear of job postings every 5 minutes.  When posting a job, be targeted and specific

4. Follow the Same Rules of Behavior on Facebook that you Use Offline: Don’t act differently just because you are using social media. Be professional & courteous

5. Let Your Employees Use Facebook at Work: Social media is not going away-it’s time to embrace it!

Statistics Include (according to Jobvite survey of U.S. human resources & recruiting professionals)

  • Since 2009, companies that use social media has increased from 68% to 80%
  • From 2010 to 2011, companies that have successfully hired through a social network has increased from 58% to 64%
