Top Job Stresses: Change and Addressing Poor Performance

By EEngagement

Just this past week, Deloitte North America released its 3rd Quarter 2012 CFO Signals: What North America’s top finance executives are thinking-and doing.

Top Job Stresses include: Change initiatives and poor performance amongst CFO’s.

My first reactions were:

  • Not surprising
  • These 2 concerns span way outside the finance industry
  • This is consistent with what our clients experience

Change is unknown-it is intimidating because we cannot control it.  Most managers do not have the experience to manage change effectively with their teams.  It trickles from there (or even higher).  Addressing poor performance is usually uncomfortable for people and can cause disengagement, or worse, conflict if not handled properly.

There are practical ways you can address this within your organization. It doesn’t require a large budget, but requires practices and a genuine desire to help.
