Intelligence Engagement: Up From the Middle
In this article, Juana Llorens highlights findings from The Boston Consulting Group and the World Federation of People Management Association in regards to employee engagement. Data was collected from 100 nations and published findings in “Creating A New Deal for Middle Managers: Empowering a Neglected but Critical Group”:
BCG identified six areas where companies are lacking in areas of employee engagement:
- Providing structured career management (38%)
- Indicating consequences related to living company values (37%)
- Offering performance-linked compensation (35%)
- Encouraging managers to be coaches (35%)
- Provinding people management skills training (32%)
- Giving recognition beyond compensation (32%)
Employees reported a lack of engagement in three areas:
- Performance management
- Recognition
- People-Manager capabilities
The article outlies four areas where orgainzations can help to bolster employee engagement.
