HBR: 6 Ways to Get People to Solve Problems Without You

The timing of this blog is somewhat uncanny.  I am working with our Bookeeper, and one of our challenges is how to solve some problems without having to involve Bob Kelleher, CEO/Founder, in the mundane “details”.  The details have to be done though-they are financial matters that Bob trusts us with.

I was looking for a new article to blog about, and came across:  Smart Rules: 6 Ways to Get People to Solve Problems Without You!  Talk about timing!

  1. Improve Understanding of what coworkers do & the real constraints they face
  2. Determine which people are the firm’s natural integrators& strengthen their roles
  3. Expand the amount of power available to everyone 
  4. Increase the need for reciprocity in the system
  5. Make employees feel the “shadow of the future”
  6. Hold uncooperative people accountable
