The childhood game of chicken is simple: 2 children run towards each other as fast as they can, until one turns away to avoid colliding into each other. We hope the game ended with our childhood, but adults play this game, whether it is in their professional or personal lives.
The results are not productive, and does not contribute towards employee enagagement, creativity, teamwork, or productive communication or results.
If we can abandon the game of chicken, encourage transparent communication, compromise and creative problem solving, we will contribute towards a collaborative, healthy work culture that will benefit our organizations, employees, customers and even those outside of our professional lives.
