The Art of Delegation

The proper techniques for delegating work to others is essential for supervisors and managers to master their work load and provide growth and development opportunities to their employees.  By using this 5-step delegation model, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the right person for the task or project
  • Establish clear expectations immediately
  • Create opportunity for feedback and follow-upDelegationGraphic
  • Reward and recognized success appropriately

Since the delegation process is a two-way street, we also include training for those who receive tasks and project through delegation from someone else.  Participants of the Responding to Delegation workshop are introduced to delegation through the same 5-step delegation model, but approached from a different angle.  They will learn:

  • Key questions to ask the person delegating the work
  • How to manage and take control of the delegation process

These can be delivered together to one audience that both delegates and receives delegated tasks, or separately go groups with distinct delegation responsibilities.

  • Delegating to Others workbook – The workbook for this workshop provides the participants with all the information needed to understand and practice the delegation described in the slides.  Participants complete the exercises and take notes as the workshop progresses.  Individual pages can be pulled out and used as quick guides for easy reference.  Click here to see a sample
  • Responding to Delegation slide show – This slide show mirrors the Delegating to Others information with one key difference – the perspective of the participant.  the familiar 5-step delegation is used but address through the eyes of the person being delegated to.  Participants will see how they can take control of the delegation process and increase their success in projects assigned to them.  Click here for a sample
  • Responding to Delegation workbook – The accompanying workbook to the slide show provides the participants with an extensive list of questions to ask the person delegating and key steps to insure success.  All information provided during the training is printed in the document and individual pages can be used as quick guides for future reference.  Click for a sample
